Knoxville e-session

Posted on November 30, 2007

****First a reminder that this is the LAST weekend to order prints for Christmas. I will be out of the country starting Dec. 16th so this is a firm deadline.*******

Two weekends ago my family and I planned a trip to Knoxville to visit my brother and celebrate his birthday. (We are full of birthdays this month!) We decided it would be fun to go to the game, which was against Vanderbilt. Easy game we thought until after the first quarter Vanderbilt is winning?! We watch until the fourth quarter and they are still losing! But I learned earlier in life, you never leave a game until it’s over! (You fellow Maidonians should know exactly the game I am talking about!)

Anyway, the game ended 25-24 UT on top. It was so close that Vandy was kicking a field goal with 30 seconds left. It HIT the goal post. Now THAT is a close game. Boy were we glad we stayed. It is probably the best UT game I have ever been to!

I guess I didn’t have to write all of that to introduce my e-session couple that I shot the next day, but I think it is fun to talk about exciting games like that. And it gives a little background to my couple; one from UT and the other from Vandy! Needless to say we didn’t talk about the game very much!

The weather was perfect and we strolled around downtown Knoxville to get some fun shots before their wedding in the spring. Poor Darren had a terrible cold and didn’t feel well at all…but I think he did a good job of faking his happiness!

My lovely associate

Posted on November 28, 2007

There are probably many of you looking at my website wondering who in the world my new associate is. Well I have been meaning to introduce her for quite some time now but we have both been so busy!

Her name is Erica Harper and she is from the Catawba County area. She is currently studying technical photography at Appalachian State, where she is also the official photographer of the App State Marching Band program. She is a fun-loving chick with lot’s of creative ideas.

I thought it would be fun to get together during Thanksgiving break to shoot around. We played with lighting equipment and had a lot of fun! Here is a picture of her:

My New Obsession

Posted on November 27, 2007

www.etsy.com

I love this website! It is a collaboration of literally thousands of artists and crafty people. There are all kinds of arts and crafts to choose from and finding the perfect gift is simple. There is a featured artist page, a page to search for something by color or region, and a gift buying guide. I hate going to malls and fighting crowds and I love to support artists pursuing there passion so this is the perfect site for my Christmas shopping. And if you are leary of buying from a complete stranger, every artist’s page has a rating to let you know how pleased other customers have been with them.

Last week I had the pleasure of spending the afternoon with baby Graham and his mommy and daddy. His dad is a fellow Tar Heel, so it is always fun to talk sports with him. (At least now that basketball season has kicked off!) Graham is just the happiest, easy-going baby anyone could ever dream of having and we had so much fun! Here are a few shots.

The Big 3-0!

Posted on November 26, 2007

Today my husband celebrates his 30th birthday, so happy birthday…or should I say grattis på födelsedagen!

I am so proud of him! For those of you that know him, know he is talented at everything (which can get a little annoying sometimes!) from cross-country skiing, to building furniture…he can even bake bread!

Marrying him has been the best decision of my life and I could not be happier!

I love you!

Here is the most recent self-portrait of us.

Christmas Cards and Deadlines

Posted on November 20, 2007

Many of you have been asking about the Christmas card designs for this year and I have been a little late getting them up this year!

A few things to think about:

You can tell me text to go into the inside of the card to save you time!

All cards come with envelopes.

You can choose to not have a template and have the picture extend to the edges to fill the card.

All cards are 5×7 except the first example which is 5×5.

These cards fit perfectly in a frame!

Prices:

Set of 50: $125

every set of 25 after 50: $50 (I can only order them in sets of 25)

And here are the samples…..

The deadline for the cards is November 27th.

I will be going out of the country to visit family in Sweden from DEC. 16th until JAN 13th. This means that all deadlines are firm.

Christmas orders other than cards must be ordered by DEC 3rd. Anything ordered after Dec 3rd may not be delivered until my return in January, so please don’t procrastinate!

Thursday night Art Crawl

Posted on November 14, 2007

Thursday night downtown Hickory will be sponsoring an Art Crawl in Union Square. My next door neighbor and extremely talented oil painter, Kay Robb will be painting from a live model in the common area of my building. There will also be a book signing at Sally and Company, another neighbor of mine. Richard Russell will be signing the book “My dear Father and Mother…The Personal Letters of Livingston N. Clinard”, which illustrates a glimpse of life in Hickory in the late 1800’s. You can find more information on the downtown Hickory website.

I will be opening my doors for anyone that would like to come and have a glass of wine and chat. There are many of you that haven’t seen my studio yet, so please stop by and say hello!

The Art Crawl lasts from 5:30-9. Hope to see you!

And because I always have a picture with a post, I will leave with one from this weekend. This is from a bridal that I am so excited to share with you, but can’t just yet! We had so much fun…and I think a lot of passers-by did as well!

The Collins Family

Posted on November 8, 2007

Last week I met the Collins Family at their beautiful home in Charlotte. It was their first time doing family pictures since their new baby girl was born so I was honored to be the one to document the moments! We had fun, but little M was not so sure of me and my big camera! Here are a few images:

She is already a daddy’s girl.

Julie + John

Posted on November 7, 2007

A couple of weeks ago I shot a wedding with my friend Regina at the Greek Orthodox Church in Charlotte. It was a beautiful wedding. Julie was just gorgeous inside and out. She kept thanking us for being there and was just so pleasant the entire day.

Just look at how happy she was.

And the kids in the wedding were just adorable. The little girl really loved the camera and gave me her model pose every time she saw the camera pointed her way!

And you can’t have a greek wedding without lot’s of dancing! Julie is not greek, but picked up on the moves quickly!

to this face?!

Seriously….I don’t know how mom does it! I had the pleasure of hanging out in the woods of Rock Barn the other day with the Auten boys. We had a session last year about this time and they have grown so much and look so different! You would think taking pictures of three boys would be challenging, but they are the sweetest boys! It really wasn’t hard to get them to stand together…and….dare I say?…..HUG! Big brother opened his arms wide and the two younger snuggled in real close. They are really are as sweet as they look in the pictures!
