Surprise Engagement Session!

This past week I (erica) had the honor of helping plan my best friend’s engagement!

Brandon came to me about two weeks ago to tell me he had a ring and that he wanted me to be there to take pictures when he proposed. Of course I was ECSTATIC!!! Lauren and Brandon are high school sweethearts and have been together for 5 1/2 years, and they are absolutely ADORABLE together! So here was our plan! I called Lauren to tell her that I needed some new portfolio work and asked if she thought Brandon would agree to model with her as a newly engaged couple. Brandon usually hates to have his pictures made but she assured me that she would make him do it! Brandon played along like a champ and acted like it was the worst thing in the world to do pictures! As it got closer to time I helped her pick out what she should wear, what Brandon should wear, how she should do her hair, everything! She had NO clue what was coming! And you have NO IDEA how hard it was for me to keep this secret from someone I’ve known since I was 5 years old and NOT tell her!

The day of the shoot Dana and I were both so giddy in the studio waiting for 6:00 that we couldn’t think straight! Here are just a few of Lauren and Brandon before the proposal.

In this one you can see that Brandon is giving me the “I’m about to do it” look, and then distracts Lauren so he can get down on one knee! LOVE IT!

Lauren’s face is priceless in this one! I am pretty sure this is the one where she is telling me how mad she is at me for not telling her! *note that she is already ripping her ring off her finger to make room for the new one!*

Steven + Amber

Erica has been busy and just getting busier! She recently had the opportunity to shoot an engagement session for fellow Appstate Grads, Steven and Amber. They did their engagement session at the Peacock Inn in Newton, which is such a beautiful location to get married!

On a side note, Erica does have limited availability in the fall. She has a few dates open so if you are interested in booking her, I would call soon because the fall is always a popular time!

Big Congrats to Steven and Amber! Looking forward to the wedding pictures!

Hallie + Matt

Erica recently braved the frigid temperatures and drove up the mountain to shoot a very wintry e-session. Hallie and Matt got bundled up and just had a fun time in the snow…they met at Appalachian State so seemed appropriate to have such a beautiful snowy landscape for their portraits.

We love hearing back from our clients and here’s what Hallie said to Erica after viewing the portraits:

Allie + Brian

I am so excited for my friends Brian and Allie. They have committed to working overseas as missionary next year and are getting ready for their big adventure. They needed pictures for their prayer cards and I was more than happy to help! We met in downtown Durham and as much as I hate Duke, the town is really up and coming and has lot’s to work with….can’t wait to shoot there again! Please pray for the two of them as they prepare both physically and mentally for this calling. They are both so inspiring and have such a passion for the people they are called to work with. Best wishes to both of you!

What a beautiful day we had for this fun e-session! These two are so much fun…Joey can not be taken serious for one minute though! He swears he is sky diving down onto Childress Vineyards, their reception site, on the day of the wedding. Well, make sure you text me before you land! Lindsay and Joey, can’t wait for the wedding; I know it will be beautiful!

I LOVE this time of year! It is the perfect weather for going up to the Blowing Rock parkway. That’s what Angela, Derek and I decided to do for their engagement pictures. We had such a good time and I think I made Angela work harder than her heels could take! (Hope your feet recovered!) We were able to capture some really beautiful images to celebrate their engagement. Can’t wait for the wedding next year!

Well I don’t know what more to say about this couple but ask, “Can they get any cuter?!” This is an e-session that Erica did for her couple that’s getting married next spring. I was immediately in love with these pictures (and her hair!). TOO TOO cute! I can’t wait to see the wedding pictures!

Well Erica has been busy while I have been away! She has been managing the office and shooting weddings and e-sessions and senior sessions. I wanted to share an e-session she shot at the Outer Banks a couple of weeks ago. She did such a fabulous job…..it looks as though they had so much fun! Jennifer is actually the girl that caught the bouquet at a wedding Erica shot last year so it was great to see someone reappear in her images!

Congrats Eric and Jennifer…can’t wait until the fall to see your wedding images!
