Outer Banks | Marathon
Posted on November 13, 2008
This past weekend I trekked across our beautiful state to the Outer Banks with my family. My brother and husband decided several months ago they wanted to do a marathon and after all of their training, it was time to put their endurance to the test! I really don’t know how they did it; I can’t even imagine running a mile! But they did it! They finished and really did well! Martin (my husband) had two feet full of blisters, but they really survived it without any injury!
Here are a few from the day:
Early in the morning before they started and at the start.

Midway…made it in only 2 hours!

The finish!

North Carolina is one of the most beautiful states in the U.S. and it was so nice to see another part of it. We really felt as though we were in a different part of the country because it is so different from the western side. NC is known for its lighthouses so we ventured out to see a couple of them.
Here is Bodie Island Lighthouse

And this is Currituck

And a couple other landscape shots….I am not much of a landscape photographer but sometimes it is nice to try something different!

Here, there and everywhere!
Posted on September 29, 2008
Finally I am back from my week-long excursion on the east coast. I started in Charleston shooting a beautiful wedding at the Wild Dunes Resort on the Isle of Palms. It was the perfect day and I enjoyed it very much.
Day two I drove to Savannah to meet Sara and Adam for their engagement session. More on that later……
On Monday I drove to Bald Head Island where I learned from four fabulous photographers; Lena Hyde, Laura Novak, Audrey Woulard, and Tamara Lackey. My head is still spinning from all of the information and inspiration!
And on Thursday we were kicked off the island a few hours early to avoid the tropical storm approaching us and I headed over to my good friends Allie and Brian to stay the weekend with them. Thanks so much for your hospitality! I enjoyed it so much!
Saturday I was shooting again…a beautiful wedding at the Magnolia Manor, which should be featured in Souther Living or Martha Stewart or somewhere! The innkeeper, Sheila, just has the touch and her home is just lovely!
So here I am, at the office, with more than enough to do! I am slowly trying to catch up. I thought I would share an image from my last Charleston wedding as they are patiently waiting to see them! I promise to have them ready soon, Ashley and Ryan!

Meet my girls…..
Posted on September 9, 2008
I am so excited to official announce a group I have been a part of for quite some time…….
We are a group of ladies that are also photographers that have joined together to inspire, support and encourage one another. It has already been such a blessing to be a part of this exciting group as we share our lives; good or bad.
One great advantage we have which would mean the most to our clients (YOU) is the fact that we are ready to cover each other at a moment’s notice. This has already happened several times and instead of shooting a wedding solo with a bum ankle or while grieving, several girls were able to stand up and help out. So should I become ill without warning or even break a leg, there are 8 other girls that could help out should I need it. To me it is comforting to be able to offer this insurance to my brides.
So let me introduce you to everyone……

From left to right starting with the top row:
Bottom row left to right:
And then me on the end!
(whew, I think there must have been a requirement to have a hard-to-spell last name to be in the group!)

Technical Difficulties
Posted on May 1, 2008
As I write this I am sitting on the phone for the second day in a row trying to resolve yet another problem. I know many of you are waiting on your images and print orders and I promise I am working just as hard as I can to get those galleries out. It just seems that all of my motorized friends here at Orange Cat Studio are angry with me!
I hope to have everything running smooth again by tomorrow (please?!) so I can get going and actually get some of the things on my to-do list done instead of trying to figure out what an invalid sibling link is.
Thanks for your patience!

Elizabeth + Nate
Posted on April 8, 2008
I don’t know if I ever laughed so hard while taking pictures! Nate and Elizabeth spent the entire time cracking me up! Nate does a great Will Ferrell impersonation and so does Elizabeth actually!
Thanks to Nicole Riley of Verge Events, it is sure to be a beautiful and personal event! And I can’t wait to see what she has put together for them.
Looking forward to the fall!
Henry, of course, had to be a part of some of the pictures!

Nate’s wallet after buying her ring!

Kristen Saine
Posted on March 18, 2008
On Saturday Kristen Shook became Kristen Saine! It was a beautiful wedding and no detail was left out! The weather could have been better, but the rain let up just in time to do some fun outside portraits. You will get to see those soon, but first I thought I would share her bridal portraits. She is just so beautiful and we had a great time doing these despite the cold and snow!
