I love to see families grow! Lauren and Kyle got married about 2 years ago and now they are welcoming their first little one; a sweet, sweet, girl that looks just like her mother! I love to do newborn sessions and if you are interested in doing a newborn session, please call me as soon as you can. I like to do newborn sessions before a week old; otherwise they have a chance of getting baby acne and they stop sleeping so nicely. Laney was such a good sport…she is such a good baby! Congratulations, Lauren and Kyle!

Yesterday Justin and Laura were married here in Hickory and it was absolutely beautiful! They are such a fun couple and I know there will be many laughs shared between the two of them!
Now that they are married I can finally share some of her bridals! She found a great location at a house on Lake Hickory just across from Dale Jarrett’s home. It was a beautiful day with lot’s of sun!

I received a lot of gifts (or should I say Olivia received a lot of gifts?!) before our little one was born. One of my favorite gifts was a hand-made blanket made by Erica, my right hand over at the studio. Not only is she a talented photographer but she can sew! I just love this blanket and we have already used it a ton! She has decided to sell them and I wanted all the Orange Cat blog addicts first dibs on this cute little blanket.

You will notice ribbon “hooks” on it is so that you can attach your baby’s favorite little toys, which is perfect for tummy time. I have also used mine to cover the car seat when we are out to protect her from germs and have wrapped it around her when she is cold.

There are definite perks to just having a baby besides the obvious. Martin’s parents are here visiting from Sweden and his mom is the best baker! Yesterday she made a big batch of cinnamon rolls. Delicious!

And big sister Kajsa was wondering why the baby gets to be on the blog so often and not her! So of course I had to make sure she didn’t feel neglected! She has been such a good big sister. She always has to check on Olivia when she is crying to make sure we are taking care of her!

That the mini sessions for Luke will be held TOMORROW! There has been such a great response so far but there are a few spots still open. Also, if you don’t have kids there is still an opportunity for you to participate. Joey of The Chocolate Lab will be donating a portion of his sales from tomorrow to Luke’s cause…..and seriously who doesn’t LOVE chocolate? He has special-made truffels and bars and all sorts of goodies as well as french-pressed coffee. Delicious! Also, for you ladies with a sense of style; La Jeune Boutique will also be donating a portion of her profits from tomorrow. So not only do you have a boutique full of cute clothes, you can feel good about splurging a bit because part of it is going to a wonderful family!

My bump and other news…

First of all don’t forget about the mini session benefit being held on Saturday at the Harris Arcade in honor of a very little heart patient. Thanks to the Hickory Daily Record for writing a story about it and putting it on the front page! You can see it HERE It is so great to have the community really coming together and supporting this little man and his wonderful parents. There is a lot of information about the specifics of his health in the article, which was interesting to read. He has been in surgery all day today, so please lift him up in your prayers today!

I have also had quite a few people offer to just give donations instead of doing the session, which is absolutely encouraged! If you are moved to do so, please send a check payable to Orange Cat Photo to 221 1st Ave, Ste 206, Hickory, NC 28601. I will collect all of the donations and send them one check when all is said and done. I will also include a list of all of the participants in this fund raiser.

Last week I got together with THE NINE and they surprised me with a baby shower! Such a sweet group of girls and I am so fortunate to be a part of it!

KATY COOK hosted the shower at her house in Marion and she did such a great job with the details.

A Cat and a Hat!

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday! I was in NYC with my immediate family for both Christmas and New Year’s and we had such a great time. I have been to NYC many times, but I have never seen it as busy as it was over Christmas! As fun as it was, it was also good to be back home and get back to normal life. It was a much needed break from reality and now I am ready for 2009…..especially 3 months from now!

Wow, I know it has been a long time since I have written…..you probably thought I forgot about this site! Just when I think it is going to slow down, it gets a little crazier! Well, hopefully all of you are enjoying a wonderful Christmas Holiday. I am looking very forward to taking it easy and getting rested before 2009 begins!

I have been busy with Christmas portraits over the past two months. There is so much to share and hopefully I will get to it all! Here is the Jenkins family. Poor mom is all alone with those 4 boys!

*****On a side note, I recently met a 4 day old little baby to shoot his newborn pictures. A couple of days later he was rushed to the hospital because he stopped breathing and was turning blue. He has since had a major operation to repair his tiny little heart. His outlook is optimistic, but he has a long road ahead of him. Please pause and lift him up as he needs a Christmas miracle this year! Thanks! *************
