Hallie + Matt
Posted on July 19, 2010
If you are an avid reader of our blog, you probably think that Erica is not so busy these days, but the truth is, I have just not been blogging her beautiful images enough! She has had some really beautiful weddings, a stunning bridal in a waterfall (which I can’t share yet, but can’t wait!) and senior portraits. I will try to do better! For now I will share a wedding that took place at Banner Elk Winery. It was a lovely wedding with the stunning natural scenery that the winery offers.
Here’s a few of the images:

Hallie is also a photographer. Erica and Hallie were in classes together at App State actually. For table decorations, Hallie printed her own images and placed them under glass, making each table a small gallery of her work. Great idea!

She also hand-crocheted the white trimmings of the hoopa…I am absolutely amazed!

A true southern wedding…red gingham tablecloths, horses, barn, beautiful pasture…what more could a southern girl want? This wedding was charming and I so enjoyed photographing every last detail! Congrats to Missy and Mike…I know this was a long time coming and you really celebrated in style!

Heidi + Matt

Pink and orange was the theme for the day and it couldn’t have been done more elegantly with a touch of whimsey. I didn’t get the chance to meet Heidi and Matt before their wedding day, but it didn’t take long to experience their sense of humor and friendliness. There were many laughs shared during the day and I was so fortunate to be a part of it. Heidi worked hard on the details…vintage details and colorful pinwheels. Here’s a few from the day. This wedding may pop up another time on the blog because it was just so hard to narrow down my images! Congrats Heidi and Matt!

Cute idea! Their dog left a message to all of the guests that in lieu of a gift, a donation was made the their local Humane Society.

Scott and LeAnne were married the other week. It was just beautiful. The weather was perfect and the two of them are just so sweet together! Here’s a sneak peak of their day…

The rings

Loved the fresh colors…

My favorite moment of the day…LeAnne’s grandfather giving her a sweet kiss on the hand. What an heirloom piece this will be for her family.

A few moments caught throughout the day…

Surprise Engagement Session!
Posted on April 27, 2010
This past week I (erica) had the honor of helping plan my best friend’s engagement!
Brandon came to me about two weeks ago to tell me he had a ring and that he wanted me to be there to take pictures when he proposed. Of course I was ECSTATIC!!! Lauren and Brandon are high school sweethearts and have been together for 5 1/2 years, and they are absolutely ADORABLE together! So here was our plan! I called Lauren to tell her that I needed some new portfolio work and asked if she thought Brandon would agree to model with her as a newly engaged couple. Brandon usually hates to have his pictures made but she assured me that she would make him do it! Brandon played along like a champ and acted like it was the worst thing in the world to do pictures! As it got closer to time I helped her pick out what she should wear, what Brandon should wear, how she should do her hair, everything! She had NO clue what was coming! And you have NO IDEA how hard it was for me to keep this secret from someone I’ve known since I was 5 years old and NOT tell her!

In this one you can see that Brandon is giving me the “I’m about to do it” look, and then distracts Lauren so he can get down on one knee! LOVE IT!

Lauren’s face is priceless in this one! I am pretty sure this is the one where she is telling me how mad she is at me for not telling her! *note that she is already ripping her ring off her finger to make room for the new one!*

The ring!

Congratulations and Best Wishes to you both!

I am so thankful for being able to be a part of this and cannot wait for the wedding!

Lindsay + Joey | Childress Vineyards
Posted on January 13, 2010
Well you could say that I am just a little behind on the blogging! I thought I’d share a couple from a beautiful candlelit ceremony in the barrel room at Childress Vineyards in Lexington, NC. It was a cold and wet day but fortunately everything was held inside of the cozy barrel room and everyone stayed warm and dry.
Here’s just a couple:

Well unfortunately this was the worst weather I have ever experienced for a wedding! There was a constant drip and sometimes the rain even came down sideways! But Elizabeth was radiant! And not bothered at all by the weather. Besides the rain, it was a beautiful wedding, both in spirit and appearance. Here are a few from the day:
The beautiful bride

The handsome groom

Love the old church in Banner Elk

Beautiful stained glass = beautiful, emotional portrait

Love the creative use of pumpkins for the fall-themed reception

Reception Fun

Erica had the opportunity to photograph a beautiful wedding at the Biltmore. She did such a fabulous job of capturing every thoughtful detail and beauty of the day. She had the opportunity to work with BobbyMark’s Designs who did the planning, design, and florals for the wedding. Biltmore is a beautiful place, but wow, did they really take it over the top!
Here are a few of the images:

Love it when Vera shows up for the party:

Peonies are my favorite and this bouquet by BobbyMark’s Designs is simply romantic.

Beautiful, Simple
Posted on August 13, 2009
Before my trip I had the pleasure of shooting a beautifully simple wedding for Laura and Keith. They choose The Yellow House for their wedding and reception and it is just the most charming place! This bed and breakfast is tucked away in Waynesville, NC and everywhere you look you see touches of old and natural beauty. It was the perfect location for an out of town bride with only months to prepare. Laura kept details to a minimal and kept it personal by recruiting friends and family to help. For those of you looking for a way to keep it simple, take a look….she did it beautifully…

She had the cake decorated to match the invitation, which was brilliantly done. If you look closely, you will may be able to see that the invitation has seeds in them. These truly are “green” invitations because after the wedding you can stick these in the ground and wait a couple of weeks and you will have flowers! Love it!

The ceremony was touching with many smiles and tears.

LOVED having so much time with the bride and groom afterwards to take some really beautiful portraits. How many of you can say you laid back and relaxed on a hammock on your wedding day? Well I strongly recommend it…doesn’t it look great?!

Carolina Rowers…

Yeah they are telling Duke/State where they can go…love hearing my fight song at a wedding!
And a few reception shots….

Laura and Keith, thank you for letting me part of your day. I enjoyed documenting your special day!

Laura and Justin

Laura and Justin were married several weeks ago and it was a fantastic day! I love that she made the guys were Carolina blue, even though they weren’t all fans! The reception was at Rock Barn Golf and Spa in Conover and the ceremony was in Hickory. I always love weddings at Rock Barn….it’s home for me! Here are just a couple from the day….
Nothing wrong with riding around in a Maserati on your wedding day…
